Dear Cousin Cathy;

Amanda has relayed to me your disappointment in my blogging frequency. I would like to officially apologize on behalf of myself, Albert, and Baby Fuzzy. I hereby promise to improve in this area if you will comment more.

Love,
Janette

January Appointment

This month's appointment went very well (except for the part where I had to drink some gross orange crap, wait for an hour, and then get my finger pricked). The results from last months AFP test came back. Our baby does NOT have Down-syndrome! Yay!
Also on the good news list: I don't have diabetes! Yay again!
Baby Fuzzy's heartbeat was a strong 155. And Albert finally got to feel a good strong kick while we were waiting for our midwife. :)
We also had a good talk with our social worker about my maternity leave situation here at the Bank. Oh, did I not mention that I found out that I will not get paid leave unless I use vacation time, of which I only have 2 weeks maximum? There is just no way Albert and I can afford for me to not be paid for a month plus. So wonderful Norella is going to do some digging for us on the subject.
Our last appointment at M&I is in just 2 weeks, during which Baby Fuzzy will get her/his picture taken again. :) They are really checking to see how my placenta is doing-- whether it is moving up out of the way of the birth canal like it is supposed to. Keep your fingers crossed! If it doesn't move higher I will have to have a c-section.
Just after the shower (on the 16th to be precise), I have my first appointment at Lincoln Center. I am very pleased that I will have a lady doctor there also. :)

24 Days til my Shower!

I have just realized that I have not blogged in over a month. oops. I guess I am just the worst blogger ever. In my defense, my world has been a busy one in the past 30 days. Christmas, New Year's, doctor's appointments (of which I have another tomorrow morning), and of course the up-coming shower for Baby Fuzzy!
I am very excited for the shower! I know my sisters are doing a fantastic job, judging not only from my faith and confidence in them, but also from the bits and pieces they have shown me. I'm sure that if you are reading this blog, you have probably been invited. Your invitation is in the mail as we speak, if you do not have it already. (My sisters desire me to say that there was a slight error in the address of the shower location. The address number starts with a 6 not a 5.)

I am entering nesting mode, now. Setting up baby registries is what did it. Soon Albert and I were really picturing ourselves as parents. It hit Albert hard when we were at Burlington Coat Factory for Baby Depot and I saw the cutest softest baby blanket that had a rocker-type winged heart in the corner that read "I love Daddy!". He agreed immediately that we absolutely needed to get it just before his eyes became the size of dinner plates! It was quite hilarious!

(For those who would like to know, we registered at Walmart and Baby Depot which you can access each both in-store and online.)

Grow, Baby, Grow! (continued)

ah, yes. The doctor visit. We spoke to everyone! Nurse, dietitian, and of course our midwife (she is so nice!). The big news is that judging from the ultrasound taken at the hospital, they decided to move the due date to April 27th. The heartbeat was about 150, which people have told me means I am having a girl. I don't know what to think anymore. Too much contradicting "evidence". Will says "boy", and he has never been wrong. But I carry high, and that means girl. Now, we've had the ultrasound so we know there's not one of each in there...
I also had some blood drawn for a A-something-P test. (I'll look it up later as the true name escapes me) It is for detecting the baby's risk for down-syndrome and other chromosomal disorders.
However, since they adjusted my due date, we may have actually missed the window of opportunity for it. And apparently, when the test is done outside this window, there is a much higher chance of receiving a false positive. Sounds to me like all this test is good for is making parents freak-out! But we took it anyway.

...train of thought broken...please wait while I reconfigure.....
